1 Scope

GB/T 46208-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering bringing the descriptions of instruments, collections and data held by different institutes into one catalogue - the common metadata, the mapping from each institute's own scheme, the identifiers, and the update and quality rules. First edition, under the Ministry of Science and Technology. In force from 1 February 2026. Issued on 5 October 2025, it has been in force since 1 February 2026.

This document specifies the overall requirements, architecture, and specific requirements and processes for the layered functions of science and technology resource information integration. This document applies to the integration of data and information in science and technology resource sharing and service activities.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 The collective term for material and informational elements in scientific and technological activities.

3.2 Science and technology resource metadata In science and technology resource management and sharing activities, structured data is used to standardize the description of the characteristics, attributes and relationships of science and technology resources.

3.3 Structured data used to describe the content, characteristics, and attributes of scientific and technological resources.

3.4 By employing standardized technical processes, metadata from diverse and heterogeneous scientific and technological resources is collected, cleaned, mapped, and fused to construct a unified semantic structure.
