1 Scope

This document specifies the description, composition and extension requirements of core metadata for polar-orbiting meteorological satellites.

This document applies to the information management, sharing, query and field application of polar-orbiting meteorological satellite data and its production and service resources.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

A weather satellite that orbits the poles.

3.2 metadata

Information about the resource.

Note. A resource is an identifiable asset or means of satisfying a requirement, such as a dataset, set of datasets, service, document, activity, software, human resources or an institution.
