1 Scope

GB/T 45318-2025 is the Chinese standard for PET beer bottles. Beer is the hardest thing to put in a plastic bottle: it needs a barrier against oxygen coming in and against carbon dioxide going out, it is pasteurised in the container, and it has a shelf life measured in months, none of which an ordinary PET water bottle has to survive. That is why beer in PET has its own standard rather than falling under the general packaging one. The document sets the classification, the requirements on the material and on the barrier construction, the dimensional requirements, the appearance, the physical and mechanical requirements including burst pressure, drop resistance, thermal stability and stress cracking resistance, the barrier performance and the shelf life related requirements, the hygiene requirements for contact with the beverage, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage. For a brewer, a bottle maker or a preform supplier in China, this is the acceptance text.
