1 Scope

This document specifies the rules for the assignment and encoding of IPv6 addresses used in China.

This document applies to the assignment and encoding of all IPv6 addresses used in China, including addresses obtained from domestic address allocation bodies and addresses obtained from international organizations with IP address management authority.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1 IPv6 address: a 128-bit identifier for an IPv6 network interface or a set of IPv6 network interfaces.

3.2 node: a device that implements IPv6.

3.3 link: a connection from one node to an adjacent node with no other routing or forwarding node in between.

3.4 interface: a node's attachment to a link. [Source: YD/T 2415-2012]

3.5 virtual interface: an interface established by configuration that provides data exchange functions.

3.6 site: a set of nodes, links and so on with an independent global routing prefix. Example: a site is shown in Figure 1.
