1 Scope

GB/T 45273-2025 is the Chinese standard for children's toilet utensils and their accessories: potties, toilet trainer seats, step stools used with them, and the combinations of the three. They look simple, and the hazards are correspondingly easy to overlook: a trainer seat that slips, a potty that tips, a gap that traps a finger, a surface that cannot be cleaned properly. The standard sets the classification and the general requirements, the material and harmlessness requirements including the migration of certain elements and the cleanability of the surfaces, the structural safety requirements covering stability, the strength of the seat and the base, slip resistance, edges, points and entrapment gaps, the load bearing requirements, the labelling and the instructions, and the corresponding test methods and inspection rules. For a manufacturer or an importer of nursery products selling into China, this is the acceptance text.

This document specifies the safety and performance requirements, marking and instructions for use of toilet appliances and their accessories, and describes the corresponding test methods. This document applies to household and portable toilets, toilet seats, urinals, squat toilets, etc. for children aged 9 months to 6 years. Products and their accessories.
