1 Scope

GB/T 45264-2025 is the Chinese standard for boarding wheelchairs, the narrow aisle chairs in which a passenger who cannot walk is carried onto an aircraft and down the cabin. It is a product defined by a constraint no ordinary wheelchair faces: it must pass along an aisle of a few tens of centimetres, negotiate the airbridge or steps, and hold and protect a person who cannot support themselves while being manoeuvred by staff. The standard sets the classification and basic parameters, then the requirements: the overall dimensions that guarantee aisle compatibility, the structural strength and stability including the tipping and loading cases, the restraint system for the occupant, the brakes and the wheels, the handles and the forces required of the operators, the folding and stowage, the materials and their flammability, the surface and edge safety, and the durability. It then gives the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, instructions, packaging, transport and storage. It takes effect on 1 June 2025.

3 Terms and definitions
