GB/T 45062-2024 is the Chinese guide to inter-calibration of meteorological satellite infrared channels. A satellite radiometer drifts after launch and cannot be recovered for recalibration, so the only way to keep a long climate or weather record consistent is to compare its measurements against a better-characterised reference instrument on another spacecraft wherever the two view the same scene at nearly the same time and angle, which is the technique this document standardises. The standard sets the satellite data required, both the target sensor data and the reference sensor data, then the cross-calibration process, and then the mathematics: the collocation criteria in time, space and viewing geometry, the spectral band adjustment between instruments whose response functions differ, the radiance conversion, the regression and the derivation of the calibration correction, the uncertainty estimation and the validation and reporting of the result. It follows the GSICS approach used internationally. It took effect on 31 December 2024.

1 Scope

GB/T 45062-2024 is the Chinese guide to inter-calibration of meteorological satellite infrared channels. This document applies to the cross calibration of infrared channels of meteorological satellite channel optical remote sensors as target remote sensors.
