GB/T 44933-2024 is the English-translated version of 电力储能用飞轮储能系统技术规范.

GB/T 44933-2024 is the Chinese national standard covering the flywheel plant that stores grid energy as rotation rather than chemistry — the overall requirements and the system architecture that ties the flywheel units, the converter and the management system together, the operating environment, the functions and the performance the system has to show, the auxiliary system, and the on-site test methods, which apply from 200 kW of rated discharge power upwards on an AC-connected installation. It works with the unit-level standard GB/T 44934-2024, which covers the flywheel storage unit itself. First edition, under the China Electricity Council. In force from 1 July 2025. Issued on 31 December 2024, it has been in force since 1 July 2025.

1 Scope

This document specifies the overall requirements, system architecture, normal operation, and operation of flywheel energy storage systems for power energy storage (hereinafter referred to as "flywheel energy storage systems").

The operating environment conditions, system functional requirements, system performance requirements and technical requirements of the flywheel energy storage auxiliary system are described, and the system test methods are described.

This document is applicable to the on-site test, inspection, operation and maintenance of flywheel energy storage systems with a rated discharge power of.200 kW and above and connected to the AC grid. Maintenance and repair.

3 Terms and definitions

3.1 Flywheel energy storage system

It consists of one or more flywheel energy storage units, flywheel energy storage converters, flywheel energy storage auxiliary systems and flywheel energy storage management systems.
