Scope
GB/T 44851.8-2025 is the English-translated version of 道路车辆 液化天然气(LNG)燃气系统部件 第8部分:过流保护阀.
GB/T 44851.8-2025 specifies the technical requirements for the overflow protection valves of liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel systems on road vehicles and describes the test method; the page title calls the component an excess flow valve, while the body of the automatic draft calls it an overflow protection valve and, in places, an overcurrent protection valve.
Clause 1 applies the document to the vehicle types defined in GB/T 3730.1 and excludes gas cylinders, stationary gas engines, container fixing parts, electronic fuel control systems and the filling port; components not covered are to be treated as a reference and given the corresponding functional tests, pressures are gauge pressures unless stated otherwise, and the working pressure of the natural gas used as fuel is 1.6 MPa, to be scaled by an appropriate factor for other systems, a 2 MPa system multiplying the pressure by 1.25.
Clause 2 cites GB/T 44851.1 and GB/T 44851.2.
Clause 3 takes over the terms and definitions of GB/T 44851.1 and adds three definitions whose term names the draft does not print: one for an overcurrent protection valve installed inside the gas cylinder, one for an overflow protection valve installed on the outside of the cylinder, and one for an overflow protection valve that stops the flow of the medium when in the closed position.
The draft breaks off there, and the table of contents gives the clauses that follow as 4 Technical Requirements, 5 Test Method and 6 Logo, with References at the end.
The foreword presents the document as a modified adoption of ISO 12614-8:2021, records that the terms current limiting overcurrent protection valve and start and their definitions were deleted, that GB/T 44851.1 and GB/T 44851.2 replace ISO 12614-1 and ISO 12614-2, and that the overpressure items of Table 1 and the marking content of clause 6 were changed, and places the document under the National Technical Committee for Automotive Standardization (SAC/TC114).
The introduction states that the purpose of this part is to specify the terminology, identification and requirements of overcurrent protection valves and to describe the test methods together with the special test methods for hydrostatic strength, leakage, resistance to overtorque, bending moment, operational tests and continuous operation. It was issued on 29 August 2025 and has applied since 1 March 2026.
