1 Scope

GB/T 43910-2024 is the Chinese vocabulary of warehouse logistics equipment, and it maps an industry that has changed faster than its terminology. China builds and operates more automated warehousing than anywhere else, and the equipment population now runs from conventional racking, forklifts and conveyors through automated storage and retrieval machines, shuttle and multi-shuttle systems, autonomous mobile robots and goods-to-person stations to the sortation and picking systems that connect them; the Chinese terms for much of it were coined locally and do not map one-to-one onto the English ones. The standard defines the terms across the whole field, the storage equipment and racking, the handling and transfer equipment, the sorting and picking equipment, the unit loads and containers, the identification and information equipment, and the operational and performance terms by which such systems are specified and measured. For anyone reading Chinese warehouse equipment specifications, tenders or catalogues in translation, this is the reference that makes them intelligible. It takes effect on 1 November 2024.
