GB/T 43766-2024 is the English-translated version of 智能网联汽车运行安全测试技术要求.
GB/T 43766-2024 sets the technical requirements for the driving safety test of intelligent and connected vehicles, that is the on-road testing of vehicles capable of conditional automated driving and above. It is the document that decides who is allowed to put such a vehicle on a public road in China and under what conditions. It sets the requirements on the vehicle under test, including the event data recorder it must carry, on the test subject, the organisation that takes responsibility, on the test driver or safety supervisor, their qualification, training and duties, and on the test management organisation. It applies to intelligent and connected passenger cars, buses, goods vehicles and special motor vehicles at Level 3 driving automation and above as defined in GB/T 40429-2021. For any manufacturer, supplier or research institute intending to run autonomous test vehicles in China, this is the governing text. It takes effect on 1 October 2024.

1 Scope

This document specifies the test vehicles, test subjects, test drivers or safety officers and Requirements for the test operation management entity. This document applies to Level 3 driving automation (conditional autonomous driving) and above intelligent network vehicles specified in GB/T 40429-2021. The company conducts road operation safety tests on connected vehicles, including intelligent connected passenger cars, buses, trucks and special operation vehicles.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 A car with environmental perception, intelligent decision-making and automatic control, or interaction with external information, and even collaborative control functions.
Note. As shown in Figure 1, a is the intelligent function, b is the network function, and c is the combination of intelligent and network functions.
