Scope

GB/T 43745-2024 is the English-translated version of 饲料原料 发酵豆粕.

China's national standard for fermented soybean meal as a feed material. Ordinary soybean meal is the principal protein source in animal feed worldwide, and it carries antinutritional factors - trypsin inhibitors, lectins, oligosaccharides and the allergenic proteins glycinin and beta-conglycinin - which mature animals tolerate and young ones do not. A weaned piglet fed unfermented soybean meal suffers gut damage and diarrhoea, which is why milk products have traditionally been used instead at that stage. Solid-state fermentation degrades those factors: the microorganisms hydrolyse the allergenic proteins into peptides, consume the oligosaccharides and inactivate the inhibitors, and leave a material with higher digestible protein and a population of beneficial organisms. It has become the standard replacement for expensive milk protein in starter feeds, which is why it needs a specification rather than being sold on description.

1 Scope

This document specifies the technical requirements, sampling, inspection rules, labeling, packaging, transportation, storage and shelf life of fermented soybean meal as feed raw material. The corresponding test methods are described. This document applies to feed additives that use soybean meal as the main raw material (>=95%) and are approved for use in the "Feed Additives Catalog" of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. A protein feed raw material product made by solid-state fermentation of microbial strains and drying.
