Scope
GB/T 43421-2023 is the English-translated version of 载人航天器微生物控制要求.
GB/T 43421-2023 is the Chinese national standard for controlling microbial contamination in the sealed, pressurised modules of manned spacecraft, across design, development and on-orbit operation.
Its design clause covers design index requirements, raw material selection, cabin environment design and disinfection products, and the table of contents then lists ground control requirements for product acceptance, final assembly testing, transportation, control before sealing, transshipment in the launch site area and the time on the launch tower, on-orbit requirements for cabin and equipment surfaces, air, reclaimed water and waste, and separate clauses on test loads, cargo, astronauts and visiting vehicles used in international cooperation.
Clause 5.1 points to informative Appendix A for reference limits on total microbes in cabin air, object surfaces and reclaimed water. Issued on 27 November 2023, it has applied since 1 March 2024.

There are no terms or definitions to be defined in this document.
4 General requirements
Microbial control of manned spacecraft should comply with the following requirements.
a) Carry out microbial control work from two aspects. system prevention design and key link control;
b) Fully consider the mission and function of the manned spacecraft, personnel residence time, etc., and comprehensively propose reasonable microbial control requirements;
c) Covering the environment, personnel, and products throughout the life cycle of manned spacecraft;
d) Conduct effective supervision and inspection of microbial control during the development and operation of manned spacecraft;
e) Fully communicate and coordinate various systems developed for manned spacecraft, carry out joint design, and jointly ensure the implementation of microbial control measures;
f) Carry out necessary relevant biological testing in accordance with national epidemic prevention and control requirements.
5 Design requirements
5.1 Design index requirements
Manned spacecraft should put forward total microbial (bacteria and fungi) index requirements before launch. Appendix A gives the space of the manned spacecraft sealed cabin.
Reference values for total microbial limits in air, surfaces and reclaimed water.
5.2 Requirements for raw material selection
The raw material selection requirements are as follows: […]
