Scope

GB/T 43331-2023 is the English-translated version of 互联网数据中心（IDC）技术和分级要求.

GB/T 43331-2023 sets the Chinese national technical and grading requirements for internet data centres, and applies to their planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and evaluation.

It runs five parallel clauses, one for each grade from level 1 to level 5, and each repeats the same six headings: green energy saving, availability, security, service capabilities, computing power and computing efficiency, and low carbon.

It defines the data centre, the internet data centre, IT equipment, the supporting facilities that hold the temperature and humidity IT equipment needs, and the power supply and distribution system.

Among the standards it quotes are GB 40879-2021 on data centre energy efficiency limits and grades and GB 4943.1-2022 on equipment safety. Issued on 27 November 2023, it has applied since 1 June 2024.

3 Terms and definitions
