1 Scope

China's national specification for greenhouse construction services. China grows more produce under cover than the rest of the world combined, in structures ranging from simple plastic tunnels to the Chinese solar greenhouse - a design with a heavy insulated north wall that stores solar heat and releases it overnight, allowing winter production at latitudes where an unheated glasshouse would be impossible. The specification addresses the service rather than the structure: what a contractor building a greenhouse must do, from the site assessment and the design brief through construction to handover and the instruction of whoever will operate it. That framing matters because the buyer is usually a farmer or a cooperative rather than a developer, the investment is large relative to their means, and the failures are recurrent - a structure that does not suit the local wind and snow loads, or one whose ventilation and thermal behaviour were never calculated.

This document stipulates the basic requirements and service requirements for greenhouse construction services, describes the corresponding verification methods, and provides service quality evaluation and improvements. This document applies to the design, construction, and maintenance services of greenhouses such as solar greenhouses, multi-span greenhouses, and plastic greenhouses.
