Scope
GB/T 4301-2026 is the English-translated version of 船用电磁计程仪.
GB/T 4301-2026 is a product standard for marine electromagnetic logs, the instruments that measure a ship's speed through the water. It sets out requirements, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation and storage, and describes the corresponding inspection methods.
The requirements cover composition, appearance, functions, interface, water pressure resistance, electrical characteristics, reliability, noise, environmental adaptability and electromagnetic compatibility.
It applies to the design, production and inspection of electromagnetic logs that provide water velocity information. Terms defined include speed over the ground and speed through the water.
This edition changed the appearance and installation requirements and added speed display requirements. Issued on 2 July 2026 and applicable from 1 February 2027, it replaces GB/T 4301-2008.

Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".
This document replaces GB/T 4301-2008 "Marine Electromagnetic Speedometers". Compared with GB/T 4301-2008, the only changes are structural adjustments and editing.
Aside from the sexual alterations, the main technical changes are as follows.
a) The appearance requirements have been changed (see 4.2, 4.3 in the 2008 version);
b) Installation requirements have been changed (see 4.3.1, 4.4 in the 2008 version);
c) Added speed display requirements (see 4.3.2);
d) Major functional requirements have been changed (see 4.4, 4.1.2 in the 2008 version);
e) Performance requirements and testing methods have been changed (see 4.5, 5.6, 5.7; 4.5 and 5.24 in the 2008 edition);
f) The accuracy requirements and methods for distance calculation have been removed [see 4.5.1b) and 5.3 in the 2008 edition];
h) The insulation resistance requirement under humid and hot conditions has been removed [see 4.6.3c) of the 2008 edition];
i) The requirements and test methods for water pressure resistance have been revised (see 4.7, 4.10, and 4.5.6 and 5.9 in the 2008 edition);
j) The maintainability requirements have been changed (see 4.10, 4.8 in the 2008 edition);
k) Security requirements have been changed (see 4.11, 4.9 in the 2008 version);
l) The requirements and methods for environmental adaptability tilt and sway tests have been removed (see 4.11.3 and 5.18 in the 2008 edition);
m) The requirements and methods for environmental adaptability spray testing have been removed (see 4.11.4 and 5.19 in the 2008 edition);
(n) Added requirements and testing methods for zero-point stability (see 4.5.5, 5.9);
o) The environmental adaptability requirements and testing methods have been revised (see 4.13, 5.19, and 4.11, 5.16~5.18 of the 2008 edition);
p) A functional testing method has been added (see 5.2);
