Scope

GB/T 42802-2023 is the English-translated version of 婴童用品 洗浴器具通用技术要求.

GB/T 42802-2023 sets the general technical requirements for infant and child bathing products - baby baths, bath seats, supports and the accessories sold with them. The hazard that dominates is drowning: a bath seat gives a parent the impression that the child is secure and can therefore be left for a moment, and a child can drown in the time it takes to answer a door. Behind that come the ordinary ones - suction cups that release, entrapment gaps, and the chemicals in a warm wet plastic article that a small child will put in their mouth. The standard sets the general requirements on appearance and hygiene, the technical requirements on chemical substance content and on mechanical and physical properties, the corresponding test methods, and the marking, packaging, transport and storage provisions, including the permanent safety warning the product must carry. It took effect on 1 June 2024.
