Scope

GB/T 42657-2023 is the English-translated version of 红外光学玻璃红外折射率温度系数测试方法 垂直入射法.

This document describes the principle of testing the temperature coefficient of the infrared refractive index of infrared optical glass by the normal incidence method, and specifies the instruments, the samples, the environmental requirements, the measurement procedure, the processing of the data and the test report.

The document applies to testing that coefficient for infrared optical glass in the 2 µm to 13 µm band; the same test may be used as a reference for the refractive index temperature coefficient of other infrared optical materials.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Temperature coefficient of refractive index

The change in the refractive index of a material per unit temperature when other conditions remain unchanged.

Note: The temperature coefficient of refractive index is expressed by the symbol dn/dT.

3.2 Normal incidence method

Light is vertically incident on one working surface of the prism and then emerges from the other working surface. It is obtained by measuring the deflection angle of the exiting light relative to the incident light. Index of refraction method.

4 Test principle

The AC reflection image of the triangular prism exiting working surface is used to achieve precise positioning of the sample under test, so that the infrared parallel beam with wavelength lambda is vertically incident It reaches the AB surface of the triangular prism with the vertex angle alpha, passes through the prism and exits from the AC surface, measures the deflection angle beta, and calculates the refraction of the sample at this wavelength lambda. Rate n.

The principle of infrared refractive index testing using the vertical incidence method is shown in Figure 1.
