Scope

GB/T 42270-2022 is the English-translated version of 多孔疏水膜的疏水性能测试方法.

GB/T 42270-2022 is the Chinese test method for the hydrophobicity of porous hydrophobic membranes.

Clause 1 states that it describes the determination of water penetration pressure and critical wetting value, and that it applies to testing membranes whose channels remain in the gas or oil phase and whose pore size lies in the range 0.01 µm to 10.0 µm.

Clause 3 defines the first as the minimum pressure needed for water to pass through the membrane, in MPa, and the second as the greatest wetting depth from which the membrane can still self-dehydrate, in µm; it also distinguishes internal-pressure from external-pressure use, by whether the inner or the outer surface meets the feed.

It quotes GB/T 6682 for laboratory water and GB/T 38902-2020 for hollow fibre cross-sections. Issued on 30 December 2022, it has applied since 1 April 2023.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 During

the membrane separation process, the membrane channel remains in the gas phase or oil phase, and the separation membrane has a pore size ranging from 0.01 µm to 10.0 µm.

3.2

Hollow fiber and tubular porous hydrophobic membranes used in a state where the inner surface of the membrane is in contact with the raw material solution.

3.3

Hollow fiber and tubular porous hydrophobic membranes used in a state where the outer surface of the membrane is in contact with the raw material solution.

3.4 Liquid pressure

The minimum pressure required for water to pass through a porous hydrophobic membrane.

Note: The unit is megapascal (MPa).

3.5 Critical wetting value

The maximum wetting depth at which a porous hydrophobic membrane can self-dehydrate.

Note: The unit is micron (µm).
