Scope
GB/T 42248-2022 is the English-translated version of 土壤、水系沉积物 碘、溴含量的测定 半熔-电感耦合等离子体质谱法.
GB/T 42248-2022 describes a method for determining iodine and bromine in soil and stream sediment by sintering decomposition followed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.
The sample is sintered at high temperature in a muffle furnace with a mixed sodium carbonate and zinc oxide reagent, leached in hot water, freed of the large amount of sodium and other cations, and then measured on an ICP-MS using the isotopes 127I and 79Br, whose mass spectrometric counts are proportional to mass concentration within a certain concentration range.
The method detection limit is 0.11 µg/g for iodine and 0.2 µg/g for bromine, and the determination ranges are 0.37 µg/g to 100 µg/g for iodine and 0.66 µg/g to 100 µg/g for bromine. Issued on 30 December 2022, it has applied since 1 April 2023.

4 Principles
The sample is melted at high temperature in a muffle furnace by a mixed reagent of sodium carbonate and zinc oxide, and then leached in hot water.
Exchange and separate a large amount of sodium and other cations in the solution, and use an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer to measure the sample solution, with iodine isotopes 127I and The bromine element isotope 79Br is qualitative. Within a certain concentration range, the mass spectrometry count value of iodine and bromine elements is proportional to the mass concentration of iodine and bromine elements.
Calculate the content of iodine and bromine in the sample by measuring the mass spectrometer count value of iodine and bromine.
