Scope
GB/T 42066-2022 is the English-translated version of 急性病毒性感染呼吸道样本采集.
GB/T 42066-2022 sets out how respiratory specimens are collected when an acute viral infection is suspected.
It covers the whole chain - enrolling the subject and filling in the information, the request and preparation, the collection itself, temporary storage, packaging, transport, reception and storage - and names the specimen types it deals with: throat and nasopharyngeal swabs, nasopharyngeal and respiratory tract aspirates, deep cough and induced sputum, bronchial washings and alveolar lavage fluid.
It also fixes the sampling tubes, solutions and swabs, the grounds for rejecting a sample, and the biosafety side: personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, protection of the subject, environmental disinfection and waste disposal.
It is written for disease control bodies, customs and biobanks, and only where acute viral respiratory infection has already been judged possible. Issued on 12 October 2022, it has applied since the same date.
