Scope

GB/T 41733-2022 is the English-translated version of 有机热载体残炭测定法 充氮法.

GB/T 41733-2022 specifies how the carbon residue of an organic heat carrier is determined under a nitrogen charge.

The sample is placed in a sample tube, the coking furnace is filled with nitrogen and the temperature is raised on a set programme to 500 °C; the nitrogen carries away the volatile matter and the carbon residue is calculated as the mass fraction of the residue.

It applies to unused organic heat carriers and to those in use, for carbon residue mass fractions from 0.01% to 10.0%, and it does not apply to silicone oils. It requires nitrogen of not less than 99.99% purity, supplied through a two-stage regulator at 140 kPa to 200 kPa.

Clause 2 cites GB/T 8979, GB/T 24747 and HG/T 3115. It was issued on 12 October 2022 and has applied since 12 October 2022.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.

1 Scope

This document specifies the method for the determination of organic heat carrier carbon residues in the nitrogen-filled state.

This document is applicable to the determination of carbon residues without organic heat carrier and organic heat carrier in use, and the mass fraction of carbon residue ranges from 0.01%~ 10.0%. This document does not apply to silicone oils.

2 Normative references

The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated citations documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

GB/T 8979 Pure nitrogen, high-purity nitrogen and ultra-pure nitrogen

GB/T 24747 Safety technical conditions for organic heat carrier

HG/T 3115 Properties of Borosilicate Glass 3.3

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 24747 and the following apply to this document.

3.1 Organic heat carrier

Generic term for organic substances used as heat transfer media.

3.2 Unused organic heat carrier

Organic heat carrier products that have not been injected into the heat transfer system.

3.3 Organic heat carrier in use

Organic heat carriers that have been injected into heat transfer systems.

3.4 Carbon residue

The residue formed after the sample is heated under certain conditions, evaporated and pyrolyzed.

4 Method overview

The sample to be tested is added to the sample tube, and in the state of nitrogen filling in the coking furnace, the temperature is programmed to heat up to 500 °C according to the specified temperature.

The volatile substances are taken away by nitrogen, and the residual carbon value is calculated by the mass fraction of the residue in the sample to be tested.

5 Carrier gas

The carrier gas used in this experiment is nitrogen, the purity is not less than 99.99%, and the quality should meet the requirements of GB/T 8979. Rear lift with two-stage regulator Supply nitrogen with a pressure of 140kPa~200kPa.
