Scope

GB/T 41520-2022 is the English-translated version of 主动源海底地震仪调查技术规范.

GB/T 41520-2022 specifies how a seafloor survey with ocean bottom seismographs and an artificially excited (active) source is carried out.

It sets the general requirements - the space-time reference, the technical requirements for the survey and the layout of stations and lines - the technical indicators for the equipment, the recorder and the source, and the offshore work itself: preparing the instruments and the documents, setting the OBS parameters, deploying and recovering the units, navigation, timing and positioning, and the shift report.

It also covers acceptance of the raw data, drawings and documents, data processing and inversion interpretation, and the results report and its filing. Two informative annexes give the operation forms and the voyage report list.

It cites GB/T 12763.8 and GB/T 12763.10, was issued on 15 April 2022 and has applied since 1 November 2022.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.

This document is proposed by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China.

This document is under the jurisdiction of the National Marine Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC283).

1 Scope

This document specifies the general requirements for the survey of submarine seismographs, technical indicators of survey equipment, marine exploration, acceptance of marine work data, and data Technical requirements for processing and interpretation, findings.

This document is applicable to the use of submarine seismometers to carry out deep crustal structure detection, submarine resource exploration, geological disaster monitoring and other fields.

2 Normative references

The contents of the following documents constitute essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, dated citations documents, only the version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

GB/T 12763.10 Oceanographic Survey Specifications Part 10: Submarine Topography Survey

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Ocean bottom seismograph (OBS)

Seismographs placed on the seafloor can be used to record elastic/seismic waves such as natural and artificial earthquakes and other acoustic information.

Note: According to the frequency bandwidth, it is usually divided into two categories. the short-cycle OBS receiving frequency is not lower than 2Hz; the wide-band OBS receiving frequency is not higher than 0.02Hz.

3.2 Active source

A seismic source that is artificially excited at sea based on physical or/and chemical means.

3.3 OBS deck control unit

A communication device used for OBS parameter setting, ranging, release and recovery, etc.

3.4 Reduced time profile

Converted time is used instead of real-time OBS recording profiles.

Note: The calculation method of the reduced time is. real time - offset distance/reduced speed. The reduced speed can be selected according to the average speed of the target layer.

3.5 Clock drift

Deviation of OBS internal clock from standard time.

3.6 Sinker anchor

A device that provides negative buoyancy for the OBS, allowing the OBS to sink and couple to the seafloor.
