Scope
GB/T 41446-2022 is the English-translated version of 基础地理信息本体范例数据规范.
GB/T 41446-2022 fixes the data content, the data generation and the file organization of fundamental geographic information ontology exemplars, and applies to the generation of that exemplar data. It builds on GB/T 40765-2021 and on the ontology semantic framework of fundamental geographic information, and belongs to the application layer of the geographic information semantics standards. Clause 3 defines twenty-two terms, among them fundamental geographic information, ontology, ontological property, exemplar, exemplar property, exemplar property table, topographic map symbol, topographic diagram, the several kinds of photograph the document calls virtual photo, stereopair, single-phase and multi-phase remote sensing image, 3D model, diagram, metadata and metadata table. Clause 4 classifies geographic concepts according to GB/T 13923, lists the ten kinds of content that exemplar data holds, and separates them into content that is required, content that is optional where the data can be obtained, and content that is simply optional; it also states what the expression of a concept has to cover and in what formats each kind of content is stored. Clause 5 describes the generation flow, from choosing the exemplar and building its property table through generating each kind of content and the metadata table to organizing the files and checking them against the requirements of 5.2.

3.22 metadata table: descriptive data table concerning the identification and the name of the exemplar data and each item of its content.
4.1 Classification
Geographic concepts are classified according to GB/T 13923. It is advisable to establish a corresponding ontology exemplar for each type of geographic concept.
4.2 Composition
Fundamental geographic information ontology exemplar data contains the following ten items of content: the exemplar property table; the topographic map symbol; the topographic diagram; the real-scene photograph, printed in the document as virtual photo; the stereopair; the remote sensing image; the 3D model; the video; the diagram; and the metadata table.
4.3 Requirements for the completeness of the content
The completeness of each item of the exemplar data content is to meet the following requirements.
Required content: the exemplar property table and the metadata table are content that exemplar data has to contain.
Conditionally optional content, that is content optional where the data can be obtained. Real-scene content means the several kinds of real-scene photograph, that is the regular photograph, the multiple perspectives photograph, the surround photograph, the panoramic photograph and the multi-phase photograph; the exemplar of each geographic concept is to contain at least one of the kinds of real-scene content. Three-dimensional content includes the stereopair and the 3D model; the exemplar of each geographic concept is to contain at least one of the kinds of three-dimensional content. Graphic content includes the topographic map symbol, the topographic diagram and the diagram; the exemplar of each geographic concept is to contain at least one of the kinds of graphic content.
Optional content: the single-phase remote sensing image, the multi-phase remote sensing image and the video.
The content framework of the exemplar data is shown in Figure 1, and the requirements for the completeness of the content together with the type codes are given in Table 1, the exemplar property table and the metadata table excepted. Table 1 has three columns, type, exemplar data type code and requirement for the completeness of the content, and thirteen rows. The thirteen type codes given are DXFH, DXSY, SJCG, SJDJ, SJHR, SJQJ, SJDS, LTXD, YGCG, YGDS, SYTX, SWMX and SPCG; of these the single-phase remote sensing image, the multi-phase remote sensing image and the video are marked optional, and the remaining ten types are marked conditionally optional.
4.4 Requirements for the completeness of the expression of the concept
The requirements for the completeness of the expression of the concept are as follows.
According to the provisions on the property table of the exemplar completed by actual survey in A.2 of Annex A and in 5.2.2 of GB/T 40765-2021, the semantic characteristics in the exemplar property table other than the abstract semantic characteristics of materiality, naturalness, cause of formation, functionality, classification relation and hierarchical order relation, that is including the ontological properties and the relations between concepts, are all to be expressed in at least one of the kinds of exemplar data listed in Table 1.
Exemplar data whose dynamics property in the exemplar property table is not empty is to contain a video.
Exemplar data whose temporality property in the exemplar property table is not empty is to contain at least one of the multi-phase real-scene photograph and the multi-phase remote sensing image.
For a naturally formed geographic concept the exemplar data is to show its temporality, its spatial form and other ontological properties; for an artificially formed geographic concept the exemplar data is to show its life state, its measurements and other ontological properties.
If, once the existing exemplar data of a geographic concept has been brought together, it is not enough to express all the semantic characteristics of that concept, the abstract characteristics of materiality, naturalness, cause of formation, functionality, classification relation and hierarchical order relation excepted, a diagram is to be added, in which the semantic characteristics not yet expressed by the existing exemplar data are shown in a suitable way, by graphics, annotations and the like.
Once all the exemplar data has been brought together it is to reflect the geographic entity exemplar as a whole.
4.5 Format requirements
The topographic map symbol, the topographic diagram, the real-scene photograph, the stereopair, the diagram and the remote sensing image are to be stored in a common picture format. The video is to be stored in a common video format. The 3D model is to be stored in the format of common commercial 3D model software, and the texture pictures of the 3D model are to be stored in a common picture format. The exemplar properties and the metadata are to be stored in the format of common commercial spreadsheet software.
5.1 Generation flow
The process of generating exemplar data comprises mainly determining the exemplars to be collected, generating the exemplar property table, generating each type of exemplar data and the metadata table, and organizing the files. The exemplar data generated is to be checked to see whether it fully meets the requirements of 5.2; if it does not, the corresponding exemplar data is to be generated again. The flow for generating exemplar data is shown in Figure 2, which runs from determining the exemplar and generating the exemplar property table, through the parallel generation of the topographic map symbol, the topographic diagram, the real-scene photograph, the stereopair, the remote sensing image, the diagram, the 3D model and the video, to generating the metadata table, organizing the files, and the check against the requirements, which either returns the work to the generation stage or releases the generated exemplar data.
Note on the printed English terms
The document renders the Chinese term of 3.9, which means a photograph of a real scene, by the English term virtual photo, and builds the related terms of 3.10 to 3.14 on that word: virtual regular photo, multiple perspectives virtual photo, surround virtual photo, panoramic virtual photo and multi-phase virtual photo. The English terms are reproduced above exactly as they are printed in the document. The Chinese definitions describe photographs taken with photographic equipment of a real scene, so the English word virtual is at odds with the definitions it heads.
