1 Scope
This document describes inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for the determination of boric acid and borates in toy materials.
This document applies to the determination of boron content in toy materials, and the results are calculated as boric acid and borate.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Basematerial
A material on which a coating can be formed or adhered.
3.2 Coating
All layers of material formed on or attached to the base material of the toy.
Note: Including paints, varnishes, lacquers, inks, polymers or other substances of similar nature, whether or not they contain metallic particles, and regardless of the method by which they are Attached to the toy, scrape off with a sharp blade.
3.3 Mass-colouredmaterials
A material that can absorb coloring substances without forming a coating.
Note: Such as wood, fiberboard, cardboard, leather, bone and other loose-textured materials.
3.4 Paperandpaperboard
Paper and cardboard whose maximum mass per unit area is not more than 400g/m2.
Note: Paper and cardboard with a mass per unit area exceeding 400g/m2 shall be treated as "other dip-dyeable materials", and may also be fiberboard or cardboard.
