1 Scope

China's national general technical requirements for automatic packaging lines for bagged instant noodles. It specifies the terms and definitions, the model, the type and the composition of the line. China makes and eats more instant noodles than the rest of the world combined - the annual figure is in the tens of billions of packets - and the packaging line is what determines the cost of each one. The line takes fried or dried noodle blocks from the process, inserts the seasoning sachets, wraps and seals the bag, checks the weight and the seal, and cases the result, at rates of several hundred packets a minute. The requirements that matter are seal integrity, because a bag that leaks admits moisture and the noodle block goes stale and rancid; sachet presence, since a packet missing its seasoning is a complaint; and the metal and weight checking that catches what the line itself may have introduced.
