Scope

GB/T 40995-2021 is the English-translated version of 村镇照明规范.

GB/T 40995-2021 is the Chinese national specification for lighting in villages and towns, covering roads, streets, squares, parks and buildings.

It sets the basic requirements, then the functional lighting that keeps residents safe when they travel and move about at night, with standard values for motor vehicle lanes and parking areas, and the landscape lighting, with zoning of night brightness and its control.

It also covers the electrical side of lighting, from power supply and distribution to lightning protection, grounding and control, the selection of lighting equipment, and installation acceptance, operation and maintenance.

It applies to new, rebuilt and extended village and town lighting projects. It was issued on 26 November 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

1 Scope

This document specifies the basic requirements of village and town lighting, functional lighting, landscape lighting, lighting electrical, lighting facility selection, installation acceptance, and operation and maintenance.

This document is applicable to newly built, rebuilt and expanded village and town lighting projects.

3 Terms and definitions

3.1 Village and town lighting

The general term for functional lighting and landscape lighting in towns and villages, roads, streets, squares, parks and other buildings (structures).

3.2 Functional lighting

Through artificial light, lighting for the purpose of ensuring the safety of residents' night travel, outdoor activities and convenient information acquisition.
