GB/T 40906-2021 is a Chinese national test method for six phthalate plasticizers treated as prohibited or restricted substances in furniture products and the materials they are made of.
The phthalates are extracted from the sample with dichloromethane in a Soxhlet extractor or an ultrasonic generator, and the extract is brought to volume and analysed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.

1 Scope
This document describes the gas chromatography/mass spectrometry method for the determination of six phthalate plasticizers in furniture products and their materials.
The test of diformate plasticizer can also be carried out with reference to this document after verification.
This document is applicable to the determination of 6 phthalate plasticizers in furniture products and their materials.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Phthalates
The general term for esters formed by the reaction of phthalic acid and alcohol. Its chemical structure is characterized by two symmetrical or asymmetric methyl esters at the ortho position of the benzene ring. Acid hydrocarbon ester.

4 Principle
