Scope

GB/T 40547-2021 is the English-translated version of 煤层气钻完井设计指南.

GB/T 40547-2021 sets out how the drilling and completion of coalbed methane wells is to be designed.

It gives the design principles and basis, starting from the geological design and treating geology and engineering as a whole, then the drilling engineering design, cementing design, pre-drilling engineering requirements, risk analysis, health, safety and environmental requirements, quality requirements for drilling and completion work and the framework of the design document.

It applies to vertical and directional coalbed methane wells, while designs for horizontal and other well types can refer to it. It works alongside the referenced standards on oil well cement testing, drilling rigs, casing string design, directional well assemblies and wellsite safety. It was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting.

1 Scope

This document specifies the principles, basis, content and technical requirements for the design of CBM well drilling and completion.

This document is applicable to the design of drilling and completion engineering of CBM vertical wells and directional wells. For the drilling and completion design of other well types such as horizontal wells, please refer to implement.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Drilling and completion

Use mechanical equipment to drill the stratum into perforations from the ground, and run casing cementing, open holes or run screens and other operations.

3.2 Well trajectory

Design or actual drilling borehole axis.

4.1 Design principles

The design of coalbed methane drilling and completion is based on geological design, reflecting the design concept of integration of geology and engineering, and reasonably and effectively protecting and developing coal reserves.
