Scope
GB/T 40488-2021 is the English-translated version of 漆树育苗技术规程.
GB/T 40488-2021 is the Chinese national code of practice for raising seedlings of the lacquer tree (Toxicodendron vernicifluum). It covers the establishment of the nursery, which follows GB/T 6001, seedlings grown from sown seed and from buried roots, seedling management, the lifting of nursery stock and the keeping of nursery records.
For sowing it requires seed with quarantine procedures and a viability inspection certificate, a germination rate of not less than 85% and quality inspection according to GB/T 2772.
It then describes how the seed is treated before sowing, from scalding in boiling water and rinsing in warm water to dewaxing in 80 °C alkaline water or with wood ash.
It applies to the production of lacquer tree seedlings. It was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.

1 Scope
This document stipulates the establishment of lacquer tree nursery nursery, sowing seedlings, burying root seedlings, seedling management, nursery stock out of nursery and nursery archives, etc. Require.

5 Sowing seedlings
5.1 Seed quality
Seeds used for sowing and propagation must have quarantine procedures and an inspection certificate for seed viability. The seed germination rate is not less than 85%. Sumac The quality inspection of sub-components is carried out in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 2772.
5.2 Seed treatment
5.2.1 Boiling water blanching seeds
Scald the seeds with boiling water for 5 minutes, the water volume is 15cm higher than the seed capacity, keep stirring for 2min~3min, then pour the water out, and then use 60°C Rinse with warm water once to wash off the wax that is dissolved in boiling water outside the peel.
5.2.2 Alkaline water dewaxing
Dewax the dewaxed seeds with 80 °C alkaline water; add 0.5 kg to 1.0 kg alkali per 50 kg of lacquer seeds (half of washing powder and alkali are also acceptable), or grass 5kg wood ash, add appropriate amount of water, mix well and knead until the seed shell becomes rough. Then put it in 60°C warm water to wash the wax and alkali.
