GB/T 40396-2021 is the English-translated version of 聚合物基复合材料玻璃化转变温度试验方法 动态力学分析法（DMA）.
GB/T 40396-2021 gives a dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) method for determining the glass transition temperature of polymer matrix composites. It covers the principle, instrument and gas, samples, conditioning, test procedure, test results and test report.
The terms it defines include complex modulus, storage modulus, loss modulus and loss factor, the last being the ratio of loss modulus to storage modulus. The method applies to composites with thermoset and thermoplastic matrices, and other materials such as resins and plastics can be tested with reference to it.
It builds on the fibre-reinforced plastics terminology of GB/T 3961 and on GB/T 33061.1-2016 for the dynamic mechanical properties of plastics. The standard was issued on 20 August 2021 and has applied since 1 March 2022.
