Scope
GB/T 40112-2021 is the English-translated version of 地质灾害危险性评估规范.
GB/T 40112-2021 sets out how to assess the risk of geological hazards before engineering construction and planning in areas prone to such hazards.
It covers the investigation of geological environmental conditions and of the hazards themselves, the assessment of their current status, the prediction of the risk during and after construction, and the comprehensive assessment together with the suitability of land for building, ending with the report, maps and annexes to be submitted.
The hazards addressed are landslides, collapses, debris flows, karst collapse, mined-out collapse, ground fissures, land subsidence and unstable slopes, and the work is graded into assessment levels with grading indicators and technical requirements for each level.
It applies at the feasibility study stage of construction projects and planning. It was issued on 21 May 2021 and has applied since 1 December 2021.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
Introduction
According to the "Regulations on the Prevention and Control of Geological Disasters" (Order [2003] No. 394 of the State Council) and the "Decision of the State Council on Strengthening the Prevention and Control of Geological Disasters" (Guo Fa [2011] No. 20), in order to standardize the risk assessment of geological hazards in engineering construction and planning in areas prone to geological hazards, this document was formulated standard.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the survey of geological environmental conditions, the survey of geological hazards, the current assessment of the risk of geological hazards, the predictive assessment, the comprehensive assessment and the Evaluation of suitability of construction land, content, methods and requirements of results submission, etc.
This standard is applicable to landslides, avalanches, and debris during the feasibility study stage of various engineering construction and planning in areas prone to geological disasters.
Risk assessment of geological disasters such as flow, karst collapse, mined-out collapse, ground fissures, ground subsidence, unstable slopes, etc.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Karst collapse
The rock and soil above the karst caves are deformed and destroyed under the action of natural or human factors, and form a geological phenomenon of collapse on the ground.
3.2 Mine-out area breakdown
After the underground ore body is mined, the upper part of the ore layer and the surrounding rock layers lose support, and the balance condition is destroyed, and then it is bent and collapsed, so It is a geological phenomenon of subsidence, deformation and collapse of the ground.
3.3 Ground fissure
The surface rock and soil are cracked under the action of natural factors or man-made factors, and form cracks with a certain length, width and depth. Table destruction of the geological phenomenon.
3.4 Geological environmental conditions
Geological elements related to human survival, living, and dependence on engineering facilities.
Note: Geological environmental conditions include topography, hydrometeorology, stratum lithology, geological structure, hydrogeology, engineering geology, and the impact of human activities.
3.5 Geological hazard-prone area
There are geological environmental conditions where geological disasters occur, and areas prone to geological disasters.
