Scope
GB/T 39934-2021 is the English-translated version of 家具中挥发性有机化合物的筛查检测方法 气相色谱-质谱法.
GB/T 39934-2021 describes a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method for screening and detecting the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released by furniture, defined as organic compounds boiling between 50 °C and 260 °C. The sample, whether a whole piece, a set or furniture parts, is pretreated and placed in a climate chamber following GB/T 35607-2017, and the emitted VOCs are collected on adsorption tubes with a constant flow sampler.
The tubes are thermally desorbed into the GC-MS, where compounds are identified from their mass spectra and quantified by peak area or peak height against standard curves.
The method covers 106 target compounds, gives detection limits, precision and repeatability, and can also be applied to furniture raw materials. It was issued on 9 March 2021 and has applied since 1 October 2021.
