Scope

GB/T 39855-2021 is the English-translated version of 纳米产品的定义、分类与命名.

GB/T 39855-2021 fixes the definition, the classification and the naming of nanotechnology products. It gives the terms and definitions and the general rules by which such a product is classified and named.

It applies to the products made of nanomaterials, to those to which nanomaterials have been added and to those processed with nanotechnology, so that a claim on a label means something definite.

Manufacturers, market regulators and standard writers use it. Issued on 9 March 2021, it has applied since 1 October 2021.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the general rules for terms and definitions, classification and naming of nano products.

This standard applies to nano-products composed or composed of nano-materials, nano-products added with nano-materials, and nano-technology processing Of nano products.

2 Normative references

The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated reference documents, only the dated version applies to this document. For undated reference documents, the latest version (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.

GB/T 30544.1-2014 Nano Technology Terminology Part 1: Core Terminology

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions defined in GB/T 30544.1-2014 apply to this document.

3.1 Nanoscale

It is in the size range between 1nm and 100nm.

Note 1.The range of this scale usually, but not exclusively, shows characteristics that cannot be extrapolated from larger sizes. For these characteristics, the upper and lower limits of the scale are similar.

Note 2.The purpose of introducing the lower limit (about 1nm) in this definition is to avoid that when the lower limit is not set, a single or a small cluster of atoms is defaulted to be a nano-object or nano Meter structural unit. [GB/T 30544.1-2014, definition 2.1]

3.2 Nanotechnology

Apply scientific knowledge to manipulate and control materials at the nanometer scale (3.1) in order to utilize material properties that are significantly different from single atoms, molecules or bulk materials The properties and phenomena related to size and structure.

Note: Manipulation and control include material synthesis. [GB/T 30544.1-2014, definition 2.3]

3.3 Nanomaterial

Any material whose external dimension, internal or surface structure is at the nanometer scale (3.1). [GB/T 30544.1-2014, definition 2.4]

3.4 Nanotechnologyproduct

Nanotechnology products Products composed of nanomaterials or with nanostructures, the main performance changes significantly after adding nanomaterials or processing with nanotechnology The product.

Note 1.Significant changes refer to functional or performance enhancements or improvements that can only be shown through nanotechnology.

Note 2.Rewrite ISO /T S18110.2015, definition 2.5 and definition 2.6.

4 Categories

According to the preparation method of nano products, nano products can be divided into three categories, as shown in Figure 1.

a) The first category is nano products composed or composed of nano materials;

b) The second category is nano products with nano materials;

c) The third category is nano products processed using nanotechnology.

5.2 Nano products composed or composed of nano materials

5.2.1 The full name of the product should be composed of nano plus the basic name (characteristic or professional use). Example: Nano titanium dioxide.

Note: If the nanomaterial has a widely used professional term, use the used name for naming. Examples. graphene, quantum dots, carbon nanotubes, etc.

5.2.2 The representation method and description of the product naming rules are as follows.

5.3 Nano products added with nano materials

5.3.1 The full name of the product should adopt the following naming rules. the name of the nanomaterial added to the subject name (required) function (optional).

Examples. water purifier (containing nano activated carbon), toothbrush (nano soft gel antibacterial).

Note: If the nanomaterial has a widely used professional term, use the used name for naming.

Examples. heat sink (graphene heat dissipation), display (quantum dot light emission).

5.3.2 Representation method and description of product naming rules.

5.3.3 The following naming rules should not be used for product naming.

The name function of the nano material added by Nano (optional). Example: Nano-mineral crystal air purifier for removing formaldehyde. Or function (optional) Nano subject name.

Examples. Nano refrigerators, nano washing machines, nano liquid glass resistant to hospital germs, etc.

5.4 Nano products processed using nanotechnology

5.4.1 Product naming should adopt the following naming rules. Subject name Nanotechnology processing method (required) Function (optional).

Examples. Refrigerator (nano-coated antibacterial), laundry color absorption sheet (nano-adsorption), chip (nano-etching).

Note 1.Nano processing methods can be determined by various industries.

Note 2.If the nanomaterial has a widely used professional term, use the used name for naming.

5.4.2 Representation method and description of product naming rules.

5.4.3 The following naming rules should not be used for product names. Nano and Nano processing methods (optional) Subject name. Examples. Nano marble, nano adsorption activated carbon, nano antibacterial underwear.

6 Nano product naming example

Refer to Appendix A for examples of nano product naming.

Appendix A (Informative appendix) Nano product naming example

A.1 Nano products composed or composed of nano materials

Nano silicon dioxide, nano phosphorene, graphene quantum dots, nano silver particles.

A.2 Nano products added with nano materials

Graphene lithium battery, face cream (polypeptide repair acne marks), dressing package (nano silver antibacterial).

A.3 Nano products processed using nanotechnology

Circuit board (nano coating), 3D printer (nano inkjet), sunscreen (nanoparticle emulsification).
