1 Scope

3 Terms and definitions

3.1 Membrane distillation membranedistilation; MD
Using the difference in temperature on both sides of the microporous membrane, the aqueous solution in contact with the hot side vaporizes on the surface of the membrane, and the generated water vapor passes through the membrane pores It is transferred to the cold side of the membrane and condenses into water to complete the separation process.

3.1.1 Direct contact membrane distillation
The aqueous solutions on the raw material side and the permeate side are in direct contact with the surfaces on both sides of the porous membrane, and the generated water vapor is transferred to the permeate side through the membrane pores. And condenses into water, thus completing the separation process.
3.1.2 Air gap membrane distillation
There is an air gap between the condensing surface and the surface of the membrane on the permeate side. After passing through the air gap, the steam condenses into water on the condensing surface to complete the separation. The process of leaving.
3.1.3 Gas purging membrane distillation
Use inert gas to blow the steam on the permeate side out of the module and condense it into water outside to complete the separation process.
