Scope

GB/T 3899.2-2007 is the English-translated version of 纺织品用染料产品 命名标准色卡.

GB/T 3899.2-2007 lays down the composition, the specifications, the quality requirements and the rules for use, keeping and distribution of the standard colour cards used in naming commercial dyestuffs for textiles.

Clause 1 applies it to the naming of products in nine categories of textile dyes - direct, sulphur, vat, reactive, colour, acid, medium, disperse and cationic - where the colour designation and the shade indication of a dye product name have to be settled.

Clause 3, on the composition of the card set, describes cards dyed to a prescribed depth and graded by brilliance and shade so that the visual steps are roughly equal in the CIE 1976 Lab colour space of GB/T 6689-1986, giving a full set of 37 colour zones and 469 colour cards in all; three zones - fluorescent pink, deep-dyed brilliant pink and pink - are dyed to the 1/3 standard depth of GB/T 4841.3-2006 and the remaining 34 zones to the 1/1 standard depth of GB/T 4841.1-2006, with the names and arrangement of the cards set out in Appendix A. Clause 4 fixes the specifications: type A cards come as 50 mm by 50 mm cards mounted on white board, kept as the original and archive copy and used for test equipment and for copying, and as 25 mm by 25 mm cards for the body that reviews the naming, while type B cards measure 16 mm by 22 mm and are bound for use by dye producers and research units when a product is first named.

Clause 5 sets the quality requirements, from appearance - an even surface, free of stains and weaving defects, with uniform fabric thickness - to the permitted error in dyeing depth, assessed against the grey scale of GB 250-1995 and required not to fall below grade 4, and to the permitted error in shade, which the draft does not reach.

The standard was proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, is administered by the National Technical Committee on Dyestuff Standardization (SAC/TC134) and was drafted by the Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry; Appendix A is informative and the standard was first published in 1986.

It replaces GB 3899.2-1986, against which the recorded change is the wording of the standard title, was issued on 2007-11-28 and has applied since 2008-06-01.
