Scope
GB/T 38930-2020 is the English-translated version of 民用轻小型无人机系统抗风性要求及试验方法.
GB/T 38930-2020 is the Chinese national standard on the wind resistance of civil light and small unmanned aircraft systems.
It specifies the wind resistance requirements and the test methods - test purpose, test conditions, test environment, interruption and resumption of the test, pass criteria, test procedure, processing of test data, evaluation of results and test report.
It applies to civil light and small rotorcraft UAV systems, aircraft and ground station, with a take-off mass between 0.25 kg and 150 kg: unmanned helicopters, multirotor systems, vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing systems (during take-off and landing only) and other rotorcraft; other types of UAV system may use it as a reference.
Wind resistance is assessed against sustained wind, gusts and wind shear, and is expressed as a lowest safe and a lowest operational wind resistance. Issued on 21 July 2020 by SAMR and SAC, it has been in force since 1 February 2021. Classification: ICS 49.020, CCS V 35.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the wind resistance requirements and test methods for civil light and small unmanned aircraft systems, including the wind resistance requirements, test purpose, test conditions, test environment, test interruption and resumption, pass criteria, test procedure, test data processing, evaluation of test results and test report.
This standard applies to civil light and small rotorcraft unmanned aircraft systems (take-off mass between 0.25 kg and 150 kg), including the aircraft and the ground station: unmanned helicopter systems, multirotor unmanned aircraft systems, vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing unmanned aircraft systems (during take-off and landing only) and other rotorcraft unmanned aircraft systems. Other types of unmanned aircraft system may apply it by reference.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 2422, GB/T 28591, GB/T 35018-2018 and GB/T 38152-2019 and the following apply.
3.1 sustained wind: wind whose speed and direction remain stable over a given period of time.
3.2 gust: wind whose direction fluctuates briefly and whose speed changes sharply. Note: a gust is usually understood as a sudden increase in wind speed.
3.3 shear wind: wind whose direction and/or speed changes over a short distance, at the same height or between different heights. Note: it is the vector difference of the wind between two points in space.
3.4 capability of wind resistance: the ability of the unmanned aircraft system, with the flight control system engaged, to withstand wind up to a given level. Note: according to the state of the system when withstanding the corresponding wind speed, wind resistance is divided into the lowest safe wind resistance and the lowest operational wind resistance.
