Foreword
This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part
1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 3822-2008 "Ujumqin Sheep". Compared with GB/T 3822-2008, the main differences are structural adjustments and editorial changes. Aside from the changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) The country of origin has been changed (see Chapter 4,
2.1 of the.2008 edition), and varietal characteristics have been added (see Chapter 4);
b) The description of physical characteristics has been changed (see Chapter 5,.2008 edition, 2.2);
c) The body weight measurement was changed (see Chapter 6,.2008 edition 2.3.1);
d) Meat production and reproductive performance were modified (see 7.1, 7.2,
2.3.3 in the.2008 edition);
e) Wool production properties have been removed (see
2.3.4 in the.2008 edition);
f) The rating system has been changed (see Chapter 8, Chapter 3 of the.2008 edition);
g) The performance testing methods have been changed (see Chapter 9, Chapter 4 of the.2008 edition);
h) The body shape and appearance scoring method has been removed (see Appendix B of the.2008 edition);

1 Scope

3 Terms and Definitions
This document does not contain any terms or definitions that need to be defined.
4.Variety origin and characteristics Ujumqin sheep is a local breed of coarse wool sheep, used for both meat and fat production. It originated in the Ujumqin grassland of Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is distributed in East Ujimqin Banner, West Ujimqin Banner, Xilinhot City, Abaga Banner, and Ulagai Management Area. It is cold-resistant and has strong resistance to adverse conditions. Some species have multiple spines, strong fattening ability, and excellent meat quality, making them suitable for grazing.
5.Physical characteristics The head is of moderate size, with wide, long, slightly downward-pointing ears and a slightly arched nasal bridge. A few rams have spiral horns, while ewes are hornless. The chest is broad and deep, with rounded ribs. The back and loin... Broad and flat, with a full hindquarters, well-proportioned limbs, and sturdy hooves. The tail is broad and thick, extending beyond the legs but not exceeding the hock. The body is covered in white fur; the head... Predominantly white, with patches of black, brown, and yellow hairs; some individuals have a small amount of colored hair on the navel, carpal joints, and below the hocks. Under grazing conditions, the weight and body size of Ujumqin sheep should meet the requirements in Table 1.
7 Production performance
7.1 Meat production performance Under grazing conditions, the meat production performance of 6-month-old Ujumqin sheep should meet the requirements in Table 2.
7.2 Reproductive performance Ujumqin sheep reach sexual maturity at 5-7 months of age, and are first bred at 18 months. Ewes typically come into estrus between September and November, with a estrous cycle of Days of gestation. 15-19 days; estrus duration. 24-60 hours; gestation period. 146 ± 5 days; lambing rate. 105.0%. Male lambs weighed approximately
4.5 kg at birth. 0.7kg, the average birth weight of the mother lamb is 4.2kg ± 0.7kg.
8 Rating
8.1 Assessment Time Every year in mid-September, 18-month-old growing sheep and 30-month-old adult sheep are graded. Level 8.2
8.2.1 Special Grade Sheep that meet the appearance requirements of this breed and whose weight exceeds the lower limit of the Grade 1 sheep index in Table 3 by 10% are rated as Special Grade.
8.2.2 Level
1 Sheep that meet the appearance requirements of this breed and whose weight and body size both meet the requirements of Table 3 are rated as Grade 1.
8.2.3 Level
2 Ewes that meet the breed's physical characteristics and whose weight and body size conform to the requirements in Table 4 are rated as Grade II. Rams are not rated as Grade II.
