1 Scope

China's national technical requirements for the work clothing worn by food industry workers. It specifies the general requirements, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the packaging, labelling, transport and storage. Food work wear has an unusual brief: it exists to protect the product from the person rather than the person from the work. Everything follows from that inversion. The garment must not shed - no loose fibres, no lint - because a fibre in food is a foreign body complaint. It must not lose anything that could fall in, which is why buttons are avoided in favour of snaps or concealed closures and why external pockets above the waist are excluded. It must cover hair and, in some areas, beard. It must survive industrial laundering at temperatures that sanitise, repeatedly, without degrading. And it should be light coloured, so that contamination is visible rather than concealed.

This standard specifies the general requirements, technical requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules and packaging, labeling, and transportation of work clothes for food workers. 3 General requirements
