Scope

GB/T 37218-2018 is the English-translated version of 高速动车用制动衬片.

GB/T 37218-2018 is the Chinese standard for the brake pads (brake linings) of high-speed railway vehicles. It applies to synthetic and powder metallurgy linings for CRH series high-speed EMUs running at more than 200 km/h.

It defines the instantaneous and average friction coefficients and the braking distance, and covers the structure and materials, the requirements for appearance, dimensions, material and friction and wear, the matching test methods, the factory and type inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transport and storage.

Normative annexes give the CRH lining interface structure and materials, the friction coefficient requirements, a shear strength test for the friction material and its bonding surface, the full-scale brake dynamometer test procedure and the water spraying device.

Lining makers and rolling stock operators use it. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 November 2019.

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, structure and materials, requirements, and tests of brake linings for high-speed motor vehicles (hereinafter referred to as "brake linings"). Methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage.

This standard applies to CRH series fixed high-speed EMU (speed greater than 200km/h) synthetic brake lining and powder metallurgy materials Dynamic lining.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Instantaneous coefficient of friction

The ratio of the tangential force to the total brake lining pressure at any given moment.

3.2 Average coefficient of friction

The integral of the instantaneous friction coefficient over the braking distance S.

3.3 Braking distance

From the time when 95% of the total braking force is reached, the distance from the stop is reached.
