Scope
GB/T 37051-2018 is the English-translated version of 太阳能级多晶硅锭、硅片晶体缺陷密度测定方法.
GB/T 37051-2018 gives a method for measuring the density of crystal defects in solar-grade polycrystalline silicon ingots and wafers.
The wafer surface is first polished with a mixture of nitric and hydrofluoric acid, then etched with a Secco solution of hydrofluoric acid and potassium dichromate so that crystal defects are attacked preferentially, and the defects are observed and counted under a microscope.
Wafers taken from different positions are measured so that the result characterises the defect density of the whole ingot. The standard covers the reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, sample preparation, test steps, data processing, precision, interference factors and the test report. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.

3 Method summary
Polishing the surface of the silicon wafer with a mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, and etching the silicon wafer with a mixture of potassium dichromate and hydrofluoric acid, silicon crystal Defects are preferentially etched, and the surface of the sample is observed using a microscope to observe the crystal defect characteristics of the silicon wafer and count the defects.
By sampling silicon wafers at different positions, the crystal defect density of silicon wafer samples at different locations is measured, and the final result can be obtained. To characterize the crystal defect density of a silicon ingot.
