Scope
GB/T 36989-2018 is the English-translated version of 用超声流量计测量液态烃流量.
GB/T 36989-2018 sets out how liquid hydrocarbons are measured with multi-path ultrasonic flow meters working on the transit-time principle.
It covers the configuration of the metering circuit, installation, operation, verification, settings and diagnostics of the meter, and its annexes explain the measuring principle, Reynolds number performance curves, verification calculations, the effect of pulse lag on verification, and verification against a master meter or a volume prover, including uncertainty.
It applies to meters whose ultrasonic transducers are fixed in the pipeline carrying the liquid, and it can also be used for allocation measurement, meter calibration and leak detection.
Defined terms include transit time, acoustic path and ultrasonic transducer. The standard was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the configuration, installation, operation, operation and operation of multi-channel ultrasonic flowmeter (hereinafter referred to as ultrasonic flowmeter) with propagation time difference method.
Verification and other requirements, the method of measuring the flow of liquid hydrocarbons by ultrasonic flowmeter, the principle of verification system configuration and verification method, and the measurement are not given. The method of determining the degree of certainty.
This standard is applicable to ultrasonic flowmeters in which the ultrasonic transducer is fixedly installed in the fluid pipeline to be tested.
This standard can also be used for applications including distribution measurement, ultrasonic flowmeter calibration, and leak detection.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Ultrasonic flowmeter; UFM
A flow meter that measures the flow using the propagation characteristics of ultrasonic waves in a fluid.
Note 1. The ultrasonic flowmeter consists of a flow meter body, an electronic component and a microprocessor system, an ultrasonic transducer, and the like.
Note 2. See Appendix A for the measurement principle of ultrasonic flowmeter.
3.2 Propagation time
The time during which the ultrasonic signal travels from the transmitting transducer to the receiving transducer in the liquid.
3.3 Acoustic path
The actual path of the ultrasonic signal propagating between pairs of ultrasonic transducers.
3.4 Ultrasonic transducer
A device that produces an acoustic output under the action of an electrical signal and converts the acoustic signal into an electrical signal.
