Scope
GB/T 36961-2018 is the English-translated version of 超高强钢热冲压工艺 通用技术.
GB/T 36961-2018 is the Chinese general specification for the hot stamping of ultra-high strength steel, the process in which stamping and quenching are completed at the same time in a cooled die.
It sets the technical requirements for hot stamped parts and for the hot stamping process, together with test methods, marking, quality certificates, packaging, transport and storage.
It applies to parts made from uncoated steel sheets, or sheets with an anti-oxidation coating, of uniform thickness up to 4.0 mm; it does not cover sheets of unequal strength or tubes, while parts of unequal thickness may refer to it.
It defines terms such as hot stamping die, hot stamped part and core hardness. Automotive part makers and their suppliers use it. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the general technical requirements for ultra-high strength steel hot stamping process, including technical requirements for hot stamping parts and hot stamping process requirements, testing Method, mark, quality certificate, packaging, transportation and storage.
This standard is applicable to non-coated steel sheets or steel sheets with anti-oxidation coatings with a thickness of not more than 4.0 mm and the same thickness. Parts produced by the hot stamping method (simultaneous completion of stamping and quenching).
This standard does not apply to hot stamping of unequal strength steel sheets and hot stamping of pipes. Refer to this standard for unequal thickness steel stampings.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions defined in GB/T 8541 and GB/T 34566 apply to this document.
3.1 Ultra high strength steel hot stamping die
A stamping die with a cooling system that utilizes a cooling medium to absorb the heat transferred by the steel plate during the stamping process to achieve the formation of ultra-high strength parts and Quenching.
Note: Hereinafter referred to as hot stamping die.
3.2 Ultra high strength steel hot stamping parts
Parts produced by ultra-high strength steel hot stamping process and hot stamping die.
Note: Hereinafter referred to as hot stampings.
3.3 Core hardness
After sampling on the hot stamping, the specimen cuts the hardness on the surface.
