Scope
GB/T 36869-2018 is the English-translated version of 水稻生产的土壤镉、铅、铬、汞、砷安全阈值.
GB/T 36869-2018 sets the soil safety thresholds for cadmium, lead, chromium, mercury and arsenic in fields used to grow rice. It defines the safety threshold as the maximum content of each of these elements in the soil that still guarantees the safe consumption of the agricultural product, and gives the threshold values in a table.
It also covers how the thresholds are monitored and analysed, referring to methods for lead and cadmium by atomic absorption spectrophotometry, for total mercury, total arsenic and total chromium, for soil pH and organic matter, and to the technical specification for monitoring farmland soil.
It applies to the assessment and management of soil environmental quality in rice production. The standard was issued on 17 September 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.
