Scope

GB/T 36823-2018 is the English-translated version of 苜蓿籽蜂检疫鉴定方法.

GB/T 36823-2018 is the Chinese national method for the laboratory detection and morphological identification of Bruchophagus roddi, the alfalfa seed chalcid. It defines the morphological terms used, such as the head, antenna, mesosoma, prepectus, propodeum, metasoma and ovipositor, following GB/T 20478.

It covers the basic information on the insect, the instruments, laboratory equipment and reagents, sample preparation, separation of insects from seed and microscopy.

Morphological identification covers the genus and the species, with the adult, egg, larva and pupa, followed by evaluation of results and storage of specimens and samples.

Annexes give the biology of the species, a key to it and its close relatives, and figures of their morphological characteristics for use by quarantine laboratories. It was issued on 17 September 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.
