GB/T 36794-2018 is the English-translated version of 胶粘带剪切破坏温度的测定.
GB/T 36794-2018 is the Chinese national test method for the shear adhesion failure temperature (SAFT) of adhesive tape, the upper temperature the bonded area can withstand under a standard load before it fails in shear.
A test piece is loaded in an oven whose heating rate is controlled, the time to adhesive failure is measured, and the failure temperature is calculated from it.
The standard lists the apparatus: a forced-air electric drying oven accurate to 0.1 °C, a sample cutter, a test plate at least 50 mm long and 50 mm wide, a mechanical or manual pressure roller, a test stand and a timing system accurate to 0.5 min.
Cutter, plate, roller, materials and test pieces follow GB/T 4851-2014, and terms follow GB/T 22396. It was issued on 17 September 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the shear failure temperature of adhesive tapes.
This standard applies to the determination and evaluation of the shear failure temperature of adhesive tape.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 22396 apply to this document.
3.1 Shear adhesion failure temperature; SAFT
When the test piece is loaded with a certain standard mass, the upper limit temperature that the bond area can withstand when shearing fails.
3.2 Shear adhesion failure temperature of adhesive tape
The upper limit temperature that the adhesive tape can withstand when the viscosity is broken.
4 Principle
By controlling the heating rate of the oven, the time taken for the viscous failure of the adhesive tape test piece was measured, and then the shear failure temperature was calculated.
5 Instruments and materials
5.1 Blast-type electric heating constant temperature drying oven. accuracy 0.1 °C.
5.2 Sample cutting knife. in accordance with the provisions of 5.3.1 of GB/T 4851-2014.
5.3 Test board. in accordance with the provisions of 5.3.2 of GB/T 4851-2014. The test plate is at least 50 mm long and 50 mm wide.
5.4 Maneuvering or manual pressure roller. in accordance with the provisions of 5.3.3 of GB/T 4851-2014.
5.5 Test stand and auxiliary equipment. in accordance with the provisions of 5.3.4 of GB/T 4851-2014. Timing system with an accuracy of 0.5min.
5.6 Material. According to 5.2 of GB/T 4851-2014.
