Scope
GB/T 36417.4-2018 is the English-translated version of 全分布式工业控制网络 第4部分：异构网络技术规范.
GB/T 36417.4-2018 is Part 4 of the Chinese standard series on fully distributed industrial control networks and deals with heterogeneous networks, where different kinds of network have to work together in one control system.
It sets the interface requirements for heterogeneous networks, describes the communication model in two forms, an integrated model and an interconnect model, and gives the technical specification for communication between the different networks.
Terms such as node, network topology, distributed network and industrial control system are taken from GB/T 36417.2-2018, and the part is used together with Parts 1 to 3 and GB/T 20720.1-2006.
It applies to planning and building fully distributed industrial control networks in discrete manufacturing and in the process industries. It was issued on 7 June 2018 and has applied since 1 January 2019.

GB/T 36417 "Full Distributed Industrial Control Network" is divided into four parts.

This part is the fourth part of GB/T 36417.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 36417 specifies the heterogeneous network interface requirements, heterogeneous network communication model, and different in the fully distributed industrial control network construct a network communication technical specification.
This section applies to the planning and construction of fully distributed industrial control networks for the discrete manufacturing and process industries.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 36417.2-2018 apply to this document. For ease of use, the following is repeated some terms and definitions in GB/T 36417.2-2018.
3.1 Node
In the network, connect it to entities of one or more other entities. [GB/T 5271.18-2008, definition 18.01.02]
3.2 Network topology
A schematic arrangement of branches and nodes in the network. [GB/T 5271.18-2008, definition 18.01.04]
3.3 Distributed network
A distributed computing network system with high reliability and easy network expansion. [GB/T 36417.2-2018, definition 2.6]
3.4 Industrial control system; ICS
A system of computing and industrial control hosts, devices and equipment that integrates them to control industrial production, transmission or distribution process.
Note 1. In this section, ICS stands for Automation System with Supervisory, Control, and Data Acquisition (SCADA) capabilities.
