Scope

GB/T 36176-2018 is the English-translated version of 真空技术 氦质谱真空检漏方法.

GB/T 36176-2018 sets the general requirements for vacuum leak testing with a helium mass spectrometer leak detector and describes the three methods in common use: the spray method, the hood method and the pressure-vacuum chamber method.

For each it covers how the test system is put together and the leak detection procedure.

The general requirements deal with staff qualification, equipment, the helium used and the test environment, and the standard closes with the leak detection record and report, whose forms are given in Annexes A and B. It also defines terms such as waiting time, leak test sensitivity and the sniffer method.

It applies to parts, components, subsystems and complete systems tested this way in any industry. It was issued on 14 May 2018 and has applied since 1 December 2018.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the general requirements for the implementation of helium mass spectrometry vacuum leak detection methods. Three commonly used helium mass spectrometry vacuum leak detection methods are applied to Requirements for system composition, leak detection procedures, etc. and requirements for leak detection documents.

This standard applies to components, components, subsystem-level and system-level products that use the helium mass spectrometer vacuum leak detection method in various industries.

2 Normative references

The following documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only dated versions apply to this document. For undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies to this document.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 3163 and GB/T 12604.7 apply to this document.

3.1 Waiting time

The interval between two tests.

3.2 Leak test sensitivity

Qemin

The minimum leak leak rate that can be detected by the leak detection system under specific working conditions.

3.3 Spray method

A helium mass spectrometer leak detection method in which a helium gas beam of a known concentration is sprayed on a surface of a test piece by a spray gun.

3.4 Cover method

A helium mass spectrometer leak detection method in which the test piece is partially or completely covered and the cover is filled with helium gas of a known concentration.

3.5 Pressure-vacuum leak detection method

The helium-filled test piece is placed in a vacuum chamber and pumped to a predetermined degree of vacuum. Under the pressure difference, helium gas enters the vacuum chamber through the leak point. The method of being tested by the leak detector.

3.6 Sniffer method

The test piece is filled with helium gas of a certain pressure, and a sniffer connected to the helium mass spectrometer leak detector is used to sniff the surface of the test piece to leak out of the helium gas.
