1 Scope

China's national specification for rigid frame non-road electric drive mining dump trucks. It specifies the terms and definitions, the requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage. Electric drive means the diesel engine turns an alternator and the current drives motors in the rear wheels - the same arrangement as a diesel locomotive, and adopted for the same reasons. There is no gearbox and no driveline to wear out, full torque is available from rest, and, crucially, the motors become generators on a descent and dissipate the energy in a resistor grid rather than in the brakes. On a mine with a long downhill haul that is not a refinement but the reason the trucks can run at all. It also scales: the largest mining trucks ever built are electric drive, because no mechanical transmission can be made to handle their power. The trade is complexity and the cost of the electrical equipment, which is why both drive types remain in production.

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, standard Log, packaging, transportation and storage. This standard applies to non-road rear unloading rigid electric drive mining dump truck (hereinafter referred to as "dump truck").
