GB/T 34909-2018 is the English-translated version of 民用建筑节约材料评价标准.
GB/T 34909-2018 is the Chinese national standard for evaluating how well a civil building saves materials. It sets out the terms, the evaluation at the design stage, the evaluation at the construction stage and the scoring method.
Design stage scoring starts with the building structure, rewarding structures with low resource consumption and low environmental impact.
It defines recyclable materials, reusable materials and environmental load (EL), the normalized value for non-renewable resource use and greenhouse gas emissions in material production, and refers to GB 50010, GB 50017, GB/T 50378, GB/T 50476 and JGJ/T 251.
It is used for the preliminary evaluation and comparison of material efficiency during design and construction, and can also serve for the materials part of a green building evaluation. It was issued on 14 May 2018 and has applied since 1 April 2019.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard stipulates the terms and definitions of the evaluation of materials for civil buildings, the evaluation of the design stage, the evaluation of the construction stage and the method of scoring.
This standard is applicable to the preliminary evaluation and comparison of the material level in the civil construction design stage and the construction stage. It can also be used for green building materials partial evaluation.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 50378 apply to this document.
3.1 Recycled materials
Materials that can be recycled by changing the shape of matter.
3.2 Reusable materials
Recycling materials that are directly reused without being changed in material form, or used after combination and repair.
3.3 Environmental load (EL)
The normalized non-renewed data on the environmental impacts of non-renewable resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions during the production of materials dimension value.
4 Design stage evaluation
4.1 Building structure
Use a building structure with low resource consumption and low environmental impact, and score according to Table 1.
